All Saints Action Network (ASAN) was established by local residents following the formal closure of the Royal Hospital.
We are pleased that after 27 years of dereliction and decay the Royal Hospital will be restored and opened in 2024 by WHG Housing Association as a wellbeing scheme for the over 55s, with 38 one and two bedroom apartments. An additional 123 homes for affordable rent and 31 for shared ownership will be built on land around the hospital.
ASAN will be converting the Hospital Porters Lodge into a café and community hub opening in 2024.
Find out more about the importance of the Royal Hospital to All Saints.
A brief history of the Royal Hospital
The beginning of the Royal Hospital starts appropriately enough, with an accident.
Mr. George Briscoe, a local businessman, fell from the chair he was standing on to clean a painting. As he lay with a broken leg, he started to wonder what others less fortunate than himself would do if they were in his situation.
Porters Lodge Café & Community Hub
All Saints Action Network will be converting the Hospital Porters Lodge into a community café to open in 2024.
The derelict Porters Lodge on the Royal Hospital site will be developed as a hub for community activities and events, creating a shared space that will instill community pride amongst both new and old residents.
Memories of the Royal Hospital DVD
An inter-generational film project, which celebrates the history of Wolverhampton Royal Hospital, through the eyes of its former employees.
Over the course of a year, All Saints Action Network worked with Media Cove Productions to train twenty local young people to create a film about the hospital's history, people and legacy.

Memories of the Royal
The hospital saved my life when I was a child. I will always be grateful for that and remember it as a beautiful building. Sad to see its decline over the last almost thirty years.
