ASAN has a track record as well as practical experience of establishing and managing development trusts.
ASAN Consultancy has successfully worked with local community groups and others to establish new development trusts. We have also supported emerging development trusts with establishing themselves and implementing their business plans.
Our work has included providing hands on mentoring support to local groups who wish to explore the feasibility of using the Development Trust approach to achieve regeneration of their neighbourhood. Our support to emerging development trusts has included extensive assistance with business planning to enable them to make early progress in relation to meeting local needs.
ASAN itself was established as a development trust and we have directly worked with other community groups, including regeneration partnerships, to establish successful development trusts which are genuinely community led and which are established to have a lasting impact on renewing their neighbourhoods. ASAN is able to share this waste breadth of experience with you.
Case Studies
Greets Green Community Enterprises
ASAN worked intensively with the Greets Green Partnership to develop a sustainable organisation to take forward work from the New Deal for Communities project. Greets Green Enterprises was registered as an emerging development trust. ASAN Consultancy provided training for potential Board members of the new trust and worked with the organisation to create a forward plan. We successful secured over half a million pounds to establish the development trust and enable it to develop its asset portfolio.
South Wye Development Trust Business Plan Development
ASAN was engaged by Herefordshire County Council to plan the asset development and community enterprise activity of this development trust. The commission involved extensive local consultation and facilitation of strategic scoping activity with local stakeholders.
Our work included profiling the area and working with staff and volunteers to develop a mission statement and objectives. We also explored legal structures for the trust and created a three year action plan for the trust. This included mini business plans for various community enterprises and a three year budget/cash flow projection.
Supporting Development Trusts in the West Midlands
As a former host of the Development Trust Association (now Locality) in the West Midlands, ASAN has worked extensively with development trusts in the region.
Our time hosting the DTA saw the emergence of Colebridge Development Trust (Solihull), Spon End Development Trust (Coventry) and Ledbury and District.
Other linkages made with regeneration programmes, statutory and non-statutory organisations across the West Midlands have included Burslem, Burton, Oswestry, Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Walsall, various Birmingham groups, Shell Corner (Dudley), Shrewsbury, Coventry and Hereford.
